50 Blog Writing Tips For Beginners

Are you a complete beginner who’s looking for practical blog writing tips? Or are you someone who already has a brief idea about writing content but is looking for something fresh?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you’re at the right place.

In this article, we’ll cover 50 content writing tips that will help beginners to write content like a professional. The tips shared will be brief, but they will directly impact how you produce content going forward.

50 Blog Writing Tips For Beginners

We will divide this article into multiple parts.

So without wasting any further time, let’s get right into the article.

Things to do before starting your article

Things to do before starting your article

Keep in mind these essential things before you write content. These are the key pillars or the foundation of your article.

1. Understand your audience

Before we even think about writing content, understanding your audience is key. Your article should address the problems your audience faces.

Understand your audience’s pain points and craft an article that solves that problem. Do in-depth research on the topic to help you create content your audience loves reading.

2. Create your Audience Persona

Your job is to know everything about your audience — things like, what do they do, what they read, what products and services they buy online, etc.

Once you’ve figured this out, you’ve truly defined your audience persona. These are the people whom you’re writing content for. The content in this way will be highly targeted and personal to your target audience.

3. Keyword Research

keyword research

Now that you have a clear idea of the pain points your audience faces and what they want to read, our next job is to find the exact keywords they are searching for.

Initially, your focus should be on long-tail keywords. A keyword with a specific problem/query is much more powerful than a generic one.

Make a list of these keywords in an Excel sheet and use them strategically in your articles. Doing this simple thing will help users find your content online easily.

4. Create an Outline

create outline

The next step is to draft the article. This draft will outline the main topic and subtopics to be covered. This is more like a table of contents for your article.

The main benefit of doing this beforehand is that you won’t be lost in the sea of information while writing the article because you’ll know exactly what needs to be covered.

Make use of Google’s first page ranking as a reference point to create an outline for the article.

Write Better Introductions

Write Better Introductions

Introductions can make or break your articles in a true sense. Either you catch the user’s attention right in the introduction, or you simply don’t.

5. Storytelling

Humans love reading stories. Storytelling is the core pillar of a strong article. Make sure you start your article with a strong build-up to keep your audience’s attention.

6. Use the PPP framework

I’ll give you a hidden trick I discovered long ago: the PPP framework.

P – Person

P – Problem

P – Proof

In the article, the person is mentioned and talks directly about their problem. Doing this, at the end, also shows them the proof of how your article can solve that problem practically.

7. Keep Short Intros

Nobody really has the time to read a lengthy introduction that’s filled with fluff. Everyone wants instant gratification. Focus on delivering value straight away, without repeating the same information.

8. Unique Angle

Although I told you to draft by studying your competitors, don’t blindly copy them. Your expertise on the subject sets you apart from the crowd.

Focus on giving your article a unique angle. The user should have that “aha” moment after they read the article.

9. Have A Catchy Hook

It takes less than 3 seconds for someone to decide if they are further interested in reading your article or not. While storytelling adds a strong hook – it can be some mystery, something that you’ll reveal at the end of the article.

You have to give them a reason to read it all the way through till the end.

Tips for Writing Great Conclusions

Tips for Writing Great Conclusions

Just like beginnings, endings are equally important in a blog article. Here’s how to make it the best ending.

10. Add a summary

The easiest conclusion for any article is to summarise the topics covered. Keep it short and simple so that if any user directly scrolls to the end, they can also get some value from your article.

What is that one thing that you want your readers to take away from this article? Focus on that as you write your summary.

11. Encourage To Comment

Always encourage your audience to leave a thoughtful comment after reading the article. It will help you in a couple of ways. Firstly, you’ll get a lot of engagement, which will encourage more users to participate. Secondly, people will ask you questions, which can get you more blog ideas.

Things to do before hitting Publish

Things to do before hitting Publish

This will be the biggest and most important one. It isn’t only about writing the article; there’s more to it, and that’s what we’ll cover in this part.

12. Focus on Formatting

Keep your article well-organised with proper headlines and other enhancements, such as bullet points and clean paragraphs.

That way, even if the readers are skimming through the article, they can get the gist of it.

13. Proofreading

Often, the first draft of the article is full of grammatical mistakes. Proofreading solves that.

Take the time to read your article thoroughly. Make use of the Grammarly Chrome extension and let it do all the magic for you.

Grammarly automatically tracks all grammatically incorrect sentences, spelling mistakes, tone of the article and much more. The free version is enough for beginners. For intermediates, I recommend getting the pro version.

14. Add Images

Your articles will get boring for readers to read without images. Add as many photos to support the article.

Readers will naturally stick with an article that includes images and read it entirely, compared to one that has no photos.

15. Add Alt Texts In Images

Once you’ve added the images, the next step is to add alternative text to those images.

How can it help? Alternative text in images helps search engines like Google read and rank them in Google Image Search, bringing you more organic traffic.

Click on the edit image and write something relevant to your image there.

16. Back Up Your Data

back up your data

Make sure you’ve some data-backed articles interlinked in your content piece. People typically love reading articles backed by research and with a strong moat. Moreover, while talking about certain things, you can back up your argument, giving you authority.

17. Write Short Sentences

One key tip I’d like to give you personally before you hit that publish button is to write short sentences rather than long paragraphs.

Attention span is fragile, and people don’t like reading huge chunks of text. Keep it short and easy to read for your users.

18. Use Bullet Points

use bullet points

For information that needs proper structure, use bulleted points and numbered lists instead of paragraphs.

19. Use Interlinking

A small yet effective tip is to interlink multiple articles within your current article. By doing this, you give the reader a reason to stay on your website longer.

20. Avoid Using Jargon

If, while proofreading, you find words that are difficult to understand, be sure to replace them with simpler words.

People love reading articles that are easy to digest and understand. Don’t try to act smart by using complex words; it will work against you.

21. Watch Your Tone

Be very sure about having an organic tone in all your articles. Have a strong intent to help readers learn something valuable from your website. Don’t try to be salesy or promote products right at the beginning of your article.

22. Add Videos

add videos

Just as images do, videos add even more authenticity to the article. Use tools like Google Gemini and ChatGPT to create fully AI-generated videos.

23. Stick to Facts

Stop making bold claims without data to back them up. Always stick to stating facts, not saying things you don’t know. Site articles from the web and back up your words.

24. Write long articles

Both search engines and readers love reading in-depth, research-driven articles. Research your top ten competitors on Google and write better articles than they do. If they have written a 1000-word article, you should write at least a 1500 to 2000-word article.

Google rewards long-form articles with in-depth research with better rankings.

25. Take Time Before Proofreading

take time before proofreading

If you’re not outsourcing articles and writing them yourself, it’s highly recommended that you take at least 24 hours before you start proofreading. Already exhausted from all the research and writing, your mind is usually not ready to proofread and catch mistakes in the article.

You have 2 options:

1. Either outsource your article for proofreading.

2. Take at least 6 hrs to 24 hrs break before doing it yourself.

26. Add Heading Tags

Both users and search engines love clean headings. In WordPress, you have headings from H1 to H5. Make use of proper heading tags. I recommend using H2 for primary headings and H3 for subheadings to keep your article clean.

27. Do A Plagiarism Check

do a plagarism check

Before you start proofreading, make sure you head over to a free online plagiarism checker tool and perform a full plagiarism check.

If you outsource content, this is a much-needed step. Oftentimes, writers use article spinning software to write content, and this step will help you find out if your article is unique.

Things To Do After Publishing

Things To Do After Publishing

Alright, now that you’ve done all the work and published the article, it’s time to understand what to do after. Let’s go

28. Double-check links

For articles published long ago, be sure to recheck them, because links often expire after changes to your website. Keep a check on your website and keep it clean. Remove all dead pages and keep updating links to the latest URLs.

29. Revamp Your Old Articles

Let’s suppose you’ve written a guide on how to make money in 2025. It’s 2026 now. Your job is to update the title and content of that article with the updated strategies that work in 2026. The following activity will send search engines to rank you higher. Google loves websites that keep their content fresh & updated.

30. Focus on Referral Traffic

Once you publish the article, your immediate job is to promote it on social media. Understand which social platform your target audience is on and promote it endlessly. Get referral traffic, which will also help you rank higher in search engines, since social signals are a ranking factor.

31. Set KPIs

After the writing part is done, the next important part is to focus on the Key Performance Indicator. For this, check Google Analytics to see which articles are performing best. Next, try to find article topics that support the main topic. Finally, research and publish that topic.

32. Keep Up With The Trends

Trend is your friend. Keeping up with the latest trends will help you update your existing articles and generate new content ideas for your blog. Once every week, don’t forget to check Google Trends to get a rough idea of the popular topics in your niche.

Create Interesting Moments Throughout The Article

Reading a 2000-word article can be boring. To that end, we will use innovative strategies to keep readers engaged until the end.

33. Ask Questions

ask questions

People love open-ended questions, which can lead to discussions. Always end your articles with a question. You can ask readers about new topic ideas they want you to cover next, or three new things they learnt from the current article, or you can request a yes or no type question multiple times throughout the article. Making this small change will keep them engaged longer.

34. Solve Real Problems

All your readers have arrived on your website to solve a real problem they have in their lives. Be sure your only goal is to solve it using your article.

35. Use Controversial Statements

A sneaky way to keep your readers attentive throughout the article is to make some controversial statements. Say something unconventional they have never even heard of, and see how they stick with the article till the very end.

36. Develop A Unique Writing Style

develop a unique writing style

Most readers will eventually visit your blog to read articles, not only because they always have a problem, but also because they like your writing style. As a professional blogger, it’s key that you build your unique voice over time by understanding your audience.

37. Add Examples

People often connect a lot with easy-to-understand examples. If you’re explaining a complex topic, always add an example that makes it easy to understand.

38. Make some mistakes

You don’t have to write fully grammatically correct articles. To give a personal touch so that your readers know a real human actually writes it, always use words that may be grammatically incorrect. It makes you more human and also gives them a reason to connect with you at a deeper level.

39. Use AI

Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not telling you just to put a prompt into ChatGPT and write the entire article. I’m saying to use it for your benefit. Use ChatGPT to create a format for the article, ask for research-backed data, and, if you’re struggling with writer’s block, ask GPT for creative ideas to begin with.

40. Read More

A great writer is a fantastic reader. In your spare time, always check your competitors’ website, learn what they are doing new and gather ideas on how you can make your content better than theirs.

41. Create a Swipe File

If at any time you run out of ideas or don’t know how to expand a topic, go back to your vault of swipe files. These files will help you in times when you struggle to produce quality content.

42. Have Structure

Everyone writes articles online, but the one that stands out are the ones with proper structure. A well-structured article includes not only images or videos but also quotes, infographics, tables, and charts. All of this helps you in keeping the information flow intact and interesting.

43. Build Consistency

Remember, blogging is a long-term game. You can’t just publish 10 articles and expect great results; that’s not how it works. Building consistency in your content production will yield massive long-term results for your blog’s growth.

44. Write Daily

Just like your muscles need daily exercise to grow, your writer’s mind also needs daily practice to produce better content. Make a compulsory habit of writing 300-500 words daily.

45. Build a personal brand

Build a personal brand
Online marketing

Not just blogging, but your goal should be to have a face or personal brand across all social platforms. The best one as of 2025 is creating video content on YouTube and writing mini articles on LinkedIn; moreover, if you can create educational reels on Instagram and Facebook.

By keeping your approach omnichannel, you’ll reach a wider audience, creating a ripple effect and generating more traffic.

46. Set A Deadline

Writing, editing and proofreading your article can be daunting and an endless job if you don’t put a hard deadline on it. Whenever you start writing your article, always set a deadline for when you want to finish and publish the final version. Doing this simple trick will keep you in check, and you won’t waste time doing things that don’t matter.

47. Focus on On-Page SEO

focus on On-Page SEO

This is a bit off topic, but important. On-page SEO remains one of the most important factors in ranking content on Google. Perform basic on-page SEO after proofreading. Make use of the Yoast SEO plugin to get help in improving your On-Page SEO.

48. Take Feedback

Take Feedback

A good writer is always in pursuit of improving their skill. The best way to improve your blog writing skills is by getting feedback.

Who can give you the best feedback? Your audience.

At the end of each article, always ask your audience how you can improve. Your openness to change will make you a great writer.

49. Don’t rush to publish

I’ve seen many bloggers rush the publishing process. While doing that is great, rushing the process often results in low-quality content with many grammatical mistakes and a poor article structure—please don’t be that guy.

50. Take a course

Take a course

To dramatically improve your writing, you should learn from an expert content writer. This tip is completely optional and only applies if you have the money to spare. However, this tip will help you write better content over time, whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate.
