Tip #1 – Do Keyword Research

Keyword research is the very first thing comes to my mind when I think about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and I can say confidently, Without it; you can’t get better rank on search engines and never improve Google search ranking.

Keyword researching is a right path in the direction of rank higher on SERPs and get targetted visitors to your blog/site.

If you use highly searchable keywords and get the first rank on the first page of search engines, It means you’re going to get massive traffic to your single post on your blog.

So whenever you write, your next article take care of it. You can use Google Keyword Planner Tool which is entirely free of cost for this work.

Tip #2 – Optimizing The Title

The title is the very first element that search engines use to display in their preview snippet for a given page result.

And, if you are not optimizing them, then you’re making the biggest mistake, and you’ll never rank your post higher on search results.

Here, I’m listing the main tips to optimizing your post titles read carefully.

  1. Always write targetted keyword in post titles after analyzing (More Searchable Keyword But Less Competition) keyword interest.
  2. After Analyzing Keyword, Try to improve Click Through Rate (CTR) to get more clicks through search engines. Are you thinking, How? Okay let me explain; If you write title as “How To Rank Higher In Google?”, then write it as “The Only Tips You Need To Get Rank Higher On Google.”
  3. Try to write your title in two parts. For example; 10 Untold Secrets To Get Rank Better On Search Results and 5 Blogs To Read That Will Teach You How To Rank Higher.

Tip #3 – Optimizing The URL Structure (Permalink)

Not optimizing URL Structure is one of the biggest mistakes that newbies always make.

Some of the newbies trust on fake experts who are saying URL Structure have no impact on ranking but guys this is entirely a myth, and some other are avoiding this.

If you think you can get rank better without SE optimized link, then you’re living in the darkness.

So avoid reading those fake experts guides and always take care of your permalink structure before hitting publish button.

Here are few tips to achieve SE Optimized URL Structure for your next blog post;

  1. Use targeted keywords in the permalink.
  2. You should avoid dynamic and relative URLs. For example; “” is more lovely than ““.
  3. Google gives more importance to hyphens () than underscores (_). So instead of underscore, always use hyphens.
  4. Avoid using Capital letters and utilize small letters in permalinks. For example; Always use “” instead of “”
  5. Write 40-50 characters in permalink of your post.

Tip #4 – Use Heading & SubHeading in Post Content

Headings and Subheadings also impacting SEO because it will help robots to understand what about your content is.

If you’re using, then you’re on the right way regarding improving search engine ranking of your blog posts.

BlogSpot and WordPress Bloggers usually use the <h2> tag as the main heading and <h3> tag as the default subheading in the blog content area.

So, always use headings instead of bypass.

For your better understanding;

In BlogSpot – <h2> tag is considered as the “Heading” and <h3> tag is known as the “subheading.”

In WordPess – <h1> tag is called as the “Heading 1” and <h2> tag is considered as the “subheading.”

You should always try to use sub-headings as many as you can in your blog posts because it helps to divide your content into small paragraphs and increase readability and search traffic.

Visual content means images, videos, and flash files.

Google always give more priority to the blogs that are using pictures, videos, and flash files and it’s also more attractive to your visitors than only text-based articles.

You should use it but not more than 2 or 3 times in a post because it can reduce your blog loading time and Google also caring of how your blog loading fast is.

If you’re are a tech savvy, then you can embed youtube videos in your blog to give more help to your readers.

I’ve also seen many pro bloggers who are using pictures to write whole guide step by step, and they are getting success.

Other 10% know very well how to write good and unique content using minimum 4-500 words without annoying their readers, but they’ve language incompatibility, and they still try to write in English, and they also quit their blogging career.

Remaining 10% get success in the blogging era because they know very well about their self and due to their excellent writing skill.

So I’ll suggest you; First, know about yourself; in which era you’re an expert, in which language you’re expert and then start blogging in which language can write better than English.

And, I can say with 100% of a surety you’ll never quit blogging and undoubtedly can write more than 500 words on each post.

Hi paramjot>>>>
Its very nice presentation bro… but how to target particular keyword and how to get ranked on google that keyword

Paramjot Singh - October 8, 2016

Hello Mohammad,
First, Thanks for landing here and read this guide.

As per your query – You can use Google Keyword Planner tool to find a keyword. First – Always use Long-tail keywords and after that look at the suggestions and select low-competition with higher-value of searching keyword.

You can also use keyword suggestion by Google search and suggestions that appear at the bottom.

Some more points to consider –

1 – Take a closer look AT the first 10 search results. Are all results from high-authority websites?

2 – Open all first 10 results and check, is the content they're providing is more powerful in quantity and quality than yours and if both of the options are yes, then try another keyword from Google suggestion.

3 – On-Page-SEO – After finding a keyword take care about the page title, description, URL-Structure, H1 tags, and page content.

4 – Off-Page-SEO – After publishing the content, link your page to other blog pages to increase backlinks to that page using strong anchor text, use that link when you comment on other blogs, Ask your readers to comment.

Harleena Singh - October 10, 2016

Hi Paramjot,

Informative post 🙂

I agree with all your points to improve your ranking, though feel that 500 word posts don't do too well. In-fact, even Google prefers blog posts that are around 2000 words at least – just like your post, isn't it?

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

Paramjot Singh - October 10, 2016

Mam, Thank you so much, for landing here and share your opinion with my readers and me.

Writing 500 words of posts enough for newbies but when you write an article after doing some research, then you can't stop your words, and you automatically write 2000 to 5000 words of articles.

Though Google gives more priority to quality over quantity, sometimes you get rank better on Google (Search Engines) just because of the quantity of content because crawlers are robots, not humans. 🙂

Mam, I'm a big fan of yours.
You make my day.
Again Thanks a lot. 🙂

Umar Farooq - October 10, 2016

Thanks for the article, Paramjot.

I don't really count my words when it comes to article writing.

What i do is, I just start writing, keep writing and writing…

And when i finish it, then is when i count my words using some words counter website…

Yep, that's exactly what i do.

This way, I'm not limiting myself to some hundred "words", and also I'm writing for my audience, instead of doing it for search engines…

Again, great piece you put together! 🙂

Paramjot Singh - October 10, 2016

Hello, Umar brother,

Same here buddy, We should write for humans not for crawlers (Robots).

As I've mentioned above, you can't stop yourself to write long posts after doing several months of research.

If you're following these rules, then you'll definitely improve your search ranking.

Thanks for your kind feedback. 🙂

Mohammad Abid - October 10, 2016

Shivansh Verma - October 11, 2016

Hi @Paramjot Singh!

Great post. 🙂

You've written all the "must follow" tips for ranking a blog on the top of Google. But, I don't think that capitalising words in the Permalink have any benefits. Hm?

And yes, as Harleena Singh Ma'am pointed, 500 words, these days are nothing because of the competition. If you want to rank on Google and achieve the first position, you should write posts of 2000+ words (or 1500 words will also be fine if the topic doesn't need that much words!).

Keep writing and learning. More to learn from your writings!

Paramjot Singh - October 11, 2016

Thanks a lot Shivansh. 🙂

Yes, Capitalizing permalink words have not any benefit but it is too harmful.

You can write thousands of words in your post. I'm not talking about maximum, I've mentioned already, write "minimum" 500 words. You must write as long as you can but "don't try" to write long posts because you're writing for humans not for robots.

Sometime, You'll get rank better just because of the quantity of the content but you know it very well, people like quality over quantity. So I never recommend anyone to write long content if they can't.

Writing short posts with covering every point of the topic is more good than writing boring stuff. 🙂 Am I Right?

I hope you understand. 🙂

Thanks again to you for share your valuable points here. 🙂

Shivansh Verma - October 11, 2016

Nope. I am not able to understand one thing- how capitalization in permalink can be harmful?

By the way, yeah, that's true that people want quality over quality. But, here we aren't talking about how to decrease your bounce rate or how to write so that, people read.

Here we're talking about how to rank on Google and to get ranked on Google, you must write long content.

Yes, exceptions are there. When a blog with high social shares, social followers and subscribers publishes post that doesn't contain more than 500+ words because the topic didn't need many words, then also Google ranks it. Because, in Google's eyes, that site can be trusted and they believe that that blog post must have good content.

But, when, a blog with not much followings, publishes a 500 words post, it will not get ranked for sure. Because, robots don't have an idea that the content is good or not.

Paramjot Singh - October 11, 2016

Good question Shivansh,

Let me explain, Why I'm saying this;

Have you ever think, why Google Blogger automatically structured your URLs to small letters instead you're using capital letters in the titles, and same is on WordPress.

Google and other search engines can easily read Capital & Small letters in the URLs. And if you've two web pages using same words of links, first one is in small letters ( and other in capital ( this wiil be seen as two different URLs by search engines sinking the link juice between them; therefore your pages could rank lower due to this duplicate content issue.

Now comes to the operating systems – (The hugest harmful point.) When your website is running on Windows, then there is no issue either your Permalink has capital letters or small. But, do you know, Linux operating system is case sensitive? If you're using capital letters, then you're wrong. Google not only consider Windows and Mac users, but they also want to give good results to Linux users.
Small letters in permalinks always take your blog posts to the next level. So avoid using capitals.

Is it cleared now?

I'll be happy to read your next post, leave me a message, whenever you publish.
Thank You.

Shivansh Verma - October 11, 2016

Great! Thanks for letting me know. Yes, avoiding capitals could help in case the reader gets confused and mistakenly write small letter instead of capital and same with Google. 🙂

Why not. 🙂
